Local Attractions

Only 2.3 miles away you will find the oldest silk mill in the UK still in its original building. A gem of industrial heritage in beautiful, rural Hampshire, Whitchurch Silk Mill is a Georgian water mill that weaves silk using 19th century machinery.
7 miles by car and you will find Highclere Castle, or some might know this as Downton Abbey. Designed by Sir Charles B architect of the Houses of Parliament this castle is steeped in history. There is a lot to do and see in Winchester from the Cathedral, one of the largest in Europe, through to the Castle and Great Hall contain King Arthur’s Round Table. Local Walks
The Watership is in the heart of the Test Valley. The Mill Trail is an attractive circular walk through the Test Valley Water Meadows. Download the mill trail map here

The Test walk is a more demanding walk of 44 miles but can be split into 8 sections and will take you from high on the chalk downs through to where is joins the sea. Download the leaflet here

The area offers a wealth of country lanes and tracks offering a variety of routes from the flat river valleys to the rolling down land. We can provide local maps.
